Kei
Rowan-Young
Born and raised in California, Kei moved to Los Angeles in 1991, aspiring to find fame in Hollywood in front of the camera. However, she found her true calling behind the scenes, settling in Santa Monica and working as a film & T.V. location manager and scout for the past 26 years—a role that suited her better. Kei’s career naturally turned towards street photography, a seamless evolution from her location scouting endeavors. Her street images and portraits are driven by a desire to collect and showcase life’s absurdly beautiful moments and the bold individuals who inhabit them with a fearless disregard for others’ opinions. Her philosophy is straightforward: life isn’t one-size-fits-all!
A self-taught photographer, Kei views photography as a vital tool for grasping a swiftly changing world. Her photography has been featured in several independent street photography magazines. She is also an active member of the international street photography scene, serving as one of the “Dirty Dozen” livestream hosts and curators for the group Street Badass. Within her local community, Kei has recently joined the Street Collective L.A., further embedding herself in the vibrant culture of street photography.
