Julie Angela, born in San Diego and raised in the Inland Empire, is a visionary traveling director and photographer whose lens captures the brief moments often overlooked by a busy world. Specializing in street photography, family functions, and events, her work poignantly portrays the vibrancy of Chicano culture and her explorations across diverse environments.
Julie’s early life was marked by profound challenges. Surrounded by addiction, a heavy police presence, and personal struggles within her family, as hardships intensified, Julie turned to a darker path.
Julie’s camera was her constant companion, transforming her expressions into powerful visual narratives. This allowed her voice to resonate louder than ever, especially after a near-death experience in 2022. All she had on her journey was God, herself, and her camera.
Following this life-altering event, Julie dedicated herself to creating short films and organizing community events. Her aim was to unite the fragmented lives within her neighborhood, a testament to her unwavering commitment to her community.
Julie’s unique style—capturing the unseen, the temporary, and the overlooked—has not only defined her artistic identity but has also led to her works being featured in the Los Angeles Sentinel Newspaper and custom calendars.
Julie continues to draw inspiration from biblical teachings, specifically Joshua 1:9, a verse that says, “Remember that I have told you this: Be strong and do not be afraid. Do not be weak but brave. I, the Lord your God, will be with you everywhere that you, God.”
